DENVER – May 5, 2022: The Colorado Department of Higher Education celebrated Colorado's future educators at a virtual ceremony on Thursday, May 5, as part of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6). The fourth annual Future Educator Honor Roll recognizes outstanding teacher candidates from Colorado's educator preparation programs.

The Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) emphasizes that great teachers make all other professions possible. Every day, educators are guiding the next generation of artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, and others who will power Colorado's economy and communities. That's why elevating the profession is a top priority.

Governor Jared Polis attended the event and provided remarks regarding the importance of educators.

"The future of education is bright with our talented, passionate educators at the helm, and I am thrilled to congratulate these deserving award winners who serve our students, parents and communities," said Gov. Polis.

Also speaking at the event, was CDHE Executive Director, Dr. Angie Paccione.

"The value of education is evident now more than ever," said Paccione. "The only way we can guide the next generation of change-makers is through our deep investment in young people."

The event began with remarks from Dr. Rosanne Fulton from the Colorado Center for Urban Education, Dr. Katy Anthes from the Colorado Department of Education, Dr. Harvey Rude, Colorado Center for Rural Education and 2022 Colorado Teacher of the Year, Autumn Rivera. The ceremony was capped off with a candidate certificate presentation.

Annette Konoske-Graf with TEACH Colorado presented nearly 50 students with certificates of recognition from 22 different future educator programs across the state.

Profiles of the candidates are available on the Future Educator Honor Roll page.
